New Prices
• The prices changed slightly recently. The student price increased to $20, and the rule editor is now $5 extra. In the spirit of shareware software distribution the old prices will be accepted for a while but I ask you to make up the difference when you can. Rather than causing myself the trouble of keeping track of several different versions of the disk, I may include the rule editor on all program disks and trust you not to use it if you did not pay for it.
Installation
• Delete any old EM Settings or EB Settings file from your system folder.
• Copy the compactor™ archives onto your hard disk and double click to expand them. You do not need the demo version, but you can give copies of it to other people.
• The demo version no longer fits with everything else on an 800K disk. If you indicate on your order form that high density disks are OK and I have them available then the demo will be included on the disk. If you don't get the demo version and you wish to distribute demo copies then please contact me for an updated demo, or combine the new order form on this disk with an older demo. Please do not give copies of the unrestricted version to anyone.
• Make sure that any rules file you want to use is in the same folder as the Empire Master program itself.
New Features
Air routes will automatically use sleeping carriers for refuelling when appropriate. Carriers that are not sleeping will be ignored.
As the game starts up it will warn you if the selected rule set includes units that are not properly understood by the machine strategy. When playing against another person this is annoying. The Suppress Rule Warnings check box in the general options panel can be used to eliminate this.
The Option-E folder contains a keyboard layout (KCHR resource) that you may find ueful if you are using system 7. This keyboard layout will eliminate the "dead keys" which are used to type foreign accents. See the ReadMe document in that folder for more information.
